INTRODUÇÃOEste artigo analisa o desenvolvimento da Corte Europeia de Direitos Humanos (CtEDH ou Corte) nas últimas três décadas, desde sua expansão durante os anos 1990 e início dos anos 2000 até a situação atual, em que a Corte tem enfrentado problemas de compliance 2+ e críticas políticas ocasionais.Enquanto muitos concordam que a CtEDH se expandiu drasticamente e aumentou sua autoridade durante a primeira década e meia após o fim da Guerra Fria, a situação atual da Corte é mais contestada.Nem os diagnósticos da situação ou as prescrições resultantes geram consenso, mas há poucas dúvidas de que a Corte vem enfrentando um número crescente de desafios na última década.O ex-presidente da CtEDH, Guido Raimondi, provavelmente fez uma boa avaliação da nova realidade da CtEDH quando identificou dois desafios fundamentais em um discurso
