Abstract

In this paper, we present a novel approach for designing microwave components referred to as “double mapping”. The objective of the proposed approach is to reutilize the existing space mapping of a design to accelerate a subsequent design with new specifications. It yields an excellent design, leading to a significant reduction in computational resources for EM simulation of the subsequent designs. The proposed concept is highly beneficial in situations where one needs to design multiple band pass filters with different bandwidths and center frequencies such as the case of channel filters in satellite applications. The double mapping concept is validated by designing a 5 <sup xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">th</sup> order band pass filter having a bandwidth of 200 MHz and a center frequency of 11 GHz, by making use an existing space mapping design of a 5-pole filter of a bandwidth of 100 MHz and a center frequency of 10 GHz.
