Abstract
Cet article pose la question de l’existence d’une politique artistique propre au ministère de la Justice. Le circuit de la commande ou de l’attribution d’œuvres fait intervenir de nombreux acteurs : administration des Beaux-Arts, architectes, gardes des Sceaux. Cette diversité n’est pas sans poser problème dans la mise en œuvre de cette politique. Malgré d’incontestables réussites esthétiques, la difficulté de définir et de conserver sur le long terme une iconographie de la Justice propre à l’action même de la Chancellerie est évidente. Au travers des œuvres encore présentes place Vendôme et celles qui sont désormais déposées dans d’autres lieux, c’est la question du « goût de la Justice » qui est soulevée.
