Abstract
Acute appendicitis is a frequent surgical emergency. Necrotizing fasciitis is an uncommon issue in patients with appendicitis. Infection may find its way through susceptible areas. A case of necrotizing fasciitis in the lumbar region secondary to appendicitis is presented. This case occurred after a perforated appendicitis through the lumbar triangle of Jean-Louis Petit. Necrotizing fasciitis arising from an appendicitis may occur in unusual site. The lumbar triangle of Jean-Louis Petit represents an extremely unpredictable pathway. Necrotizing fasciitis of the abdominal wall may be caused by a complicated appendicitis. Appendicitis may occur within the inferior lumbar triangle, offering a path to an unexpected site of severe infection.
