Abstract
De provincie Utrecht heeft een Voedselagenda opgesteld, waarin ze streeft naar meer consumptie van lokale producten door inwoners van de provincie. In dit onderzoek gaan we na wat het huidige aanbod van korteketenproducten in de provincie is en wat de geschatte consumentenvraag is. Dit wordt gedaan aan de hand van de uitkomsten van een aantal additionele vragen in de Landbouwtelling en de uitkomsten van een eerder onderzoek in opdracht van het ministerie van Landbouw, Natuur en Voedsel, waarin de geschatte vraag van korteketenproducten in Nederland is vastgesteld. Uit dit onderzoek blijkt dat het aanbod van korteketenproducten ongeveer een waarde heeft van 24 miljoen euro af boerderij met een consumentenwaarde van ongeveer 119 miljoen euro. Bovendien blijkt dat het aanbod vooral bestaat uit zuivelproducten, fruit, eieren en rundvlees. Ook heeft de provincie geen specifieke Utrechtse streekproducten en is van een verbinding met het toerisme, zoals dat in andere provincies gebeurt, nog nauwelijks sprake.
