Abstract
Este artigo aborda intervenções cênicas no espaço público e como elas impactam nas cidades e nos seus habitantes. Embora ele derive de uma pesquisa etnográfica realizada no âmbito de festivais de circo, trata-se antes de uma reflexão de matriz interdisciplinar do que um aporte empírico pautado no trabalho de campo. O propósito consiste em demonstrar como espetáculos se inscrevem no espaço público, transformando tanto as cidades como as percepções dos habitantes sobre elas. Para isso, observaremos a cidade enquanto ecossistema e algumas estratégias utilizadas por artistas para adaptarem suas performances ao espaço público. Por fim, o enfoque repousará sobre festivais, dispositivos de difusão que ocupam cidades durante um tempo determinado, permitindo a realização simultânea de um conjunto de performances. Veremos que a experiência estética pode acionar o imaginário poético dos espectadores, sendo capaz de transformar as percepções e também os laços de pertencimento dos habitantes para com a cidade.
