Partout en Europe, les fictions criminelles se consomment et s’expérimentent désormais massivement en contexte festif. Tables rondes plurilingues et débats internationaux président souvent à la lecture d’un genre dont les circulations européennes se sont accrues ces dernières années, et les festivals ne sont sans doute pas pour rien dans ces transferts culturels. Pendant que leur diffusion homogénéise les cadres d’appropriation du genre, leur développement encourage les flux de livres et d’écrivains, et semble fabriquer une communauté de réception européenne. Ces processus méritent toutefois d’être remis en perspective, et leur actualité nuancée. Favorisée par les politiques culturelles récentes, l’internationalisation des programmations de festivals constitue moins une évolution que la pièce maîtresse du spectacle que ceux-ci façonnent depuis leur émergence, et qui domine désormais bon nombre de contenus festivaliers du continent. Performée dans les tables-rondes et les débats, l’internationalité est en effet devenue l’un des enjeux de la représentation sociale que façonne le festival de polar. Celle-ci nous invite à tourner le regard vers les scénographies de l’internationalité qu’il institue pour les publics : c’est en effet au sein de celles-ci que la transculturalisation des idées, de la culture et des identités s’affiche dans et à côté des espaces publics nationaux, et qu’elle s’y expérimente tout à la fois.
