Abstract
Dans l’existence adulte, le sexe se trouve au confluent des trois grandes expressions du désir sexuel : c’est la source du plaisir génital, en tant qu’organe spécifique destiné à la rencontre du même nom ; c’est un objet de plaisir pulsionnel sous des formes diverses et phallique en particulier ; c’est enfin un attribut social, un genre, destiné à situer le sujet socialement. On met de plus en plus aujourd’hui l’accent sur le genre et sur le conflit entre sexe et genre, dans la mesure où l’assignation au genre serait aliénante pour beaucoup. Le plus important pour l’analyse est surtout de tenir compte de la dimension pulsionnelle du désir, élaborée dans l’inconscient, qui fait que chacun est unique en son genre et affirme par là sa façon intime et personnelle de vivre la sexualité.
