In this paper, the back projection (BP) algorithm is enhanced based on two parameters. In the first step, antenna beamwidth is employed. Narrow beamwidth makes better discrimination than omnidirectional one when there exist some buried targets. In the second step, the expected delays for a point of image can be used. The delays which come from perpendicular angles are more valuable in an imaging algorithm than those from lower angles. Besides, we have demonstrated that correlation method in the BP algorithm can improve the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) less than summation in the BP algorithm. But it improves discrimination. Finally, the detection of buried objects in images is automatized by an adaptive thresholding approach called 2-D constant false alarm rate (CFAR).
