Abstract
The relevance of the topic under study is related to the problems of the uneven economic situation of the regions of modern Russia. The key purpose of the article is to consider the dynamics of the development of the region’s economy during the historical period, accompanied by modernization processes in the life of the entire state. Materials and methods. The research is based on various sources presented in the form of periodicals and reference and statistical publications. The theoretical basis of the work is the theory of modernization. The principle of historicism, comparative historical and descriptive methods are used. Results. The paper examines the state of the economic potential of the Tobolsk province in the last quarter of the XIX – early XX centuries. Various economic indicators are presented that make it possible to draw reasonable conclusions about the real situation of the economic life of the studied region. Separate categories of economic activity that were specific to the region are indicated, comparative characteristics of the economic potential of the Tobolsk province with other regions in the same period are given. The scope of the results. The conclusions presented in this article may have practical application in the process of teaching relevant disciplines in educational institutions of various levels.
