Abstract

L’objectif principal de cet article consiste à présenter un état de situation en matière de modèles conceptuels et de définitions de l’autodétermination. Issu de débats philosophiques centenaires sur le libre arbitre et le déterminisme, il est devenu un construit faisant référence soit à la capacité d’un peuple à s’autogouverner ou à la détermination d’une volonté personnelle. Dès lors, plusieurs domaines ou champs disciplinaires se sont approprié le terme et l’ont défini. Cet article s’inscrit dans la perspective individuelle et présente les modèles conceptuels et les définitions prédominants qui ont émergé des travaux de recherche des dernières décennies. Viennent ensuite une perspective intégrative de ces connaissances et une courte introduction aux instruments de mesure qui ont été développés suite à ces travaux.
