A partir de las perspectivas ecosocialista y ecofeminista, este artículo examina el impacto negativo del extractivismo como una actividad económica que extrae una gran cantidad de recursos naturales, y evalúa cómo se ha desarrollado la gestión ecológica del capital global en América Central y América del Sur, lo cual se denomina “enverdecimiento”. Se abordan tres preguntas: ¿cómo se ha organizado la red regional y local sobre la gobernanza de la naturaleza en América Latina?; ¿por qué el extractivismo golpea más a las mujeres?; y ¿en qué medida y cómo se han involucrado los movimientos contra el extractivismo en la lucha contra las tendencias globales, así como en contra de las políticas nacionales y locales que las apoyan? El documento expone a las Naciones Unidas como una fuerza clave en el modelo permanente de colonialismo, dependencia económica, patriarcado y poder geopolítico que caracterizaal extractivismo.
