O facebook e os idosos : a importância do software social na aprendizagem ao longo da vida

Abstract
A presente comunicação insere-se no âmbito de um estudo de caso de natureza qualitativa, realizado numa turma de informática da Universidade Sénior Albicastrense (USALBI) durante o ano letivo 2010/2011, com o objetivo de compreender o contributo do Facebook na promoção do envelhecimento ativo. Genericamente, este estudo consistiu na observação não participante dos idosos da turma de informática, na realização de entrevistas semiestruturadas aos idosos e á professora de informática e também na aplicação de uma grelha de exploração cronológica baseada nas funcionalidades do Facebook. Os resultados deste estudo permitiram constatar que o Facebook é uma rede social digital extensível a todas as idades, é uma ferramenta digital que promove a socialização, combate o isolamento, contribuindo igualmente para uma aprendizagem ao longo da vida, permitindo criar condições para que os idosos possam ter um mais adequado envelhecimento ativo.
