Abstract
This chapter is a part of the book which is entitled " Logistic in extreme environment : principles of organization for a polar expedition on skis ". The chapter called " Drifting snow in polar areas : itinerant camps and snowdrift formation " focus on the drifting snow processes. After a general presentation about blowing snow and the related problems (snowdrift and visibility), the authors expound the rules dedicated to the reduction of snowdrift formation around the buildings and which are adapted to itinerant camps. / Ce chapitre fait partie du livre "Logistique en milieus extrêmes : principes d'organisation des expéditions polaires à ski. Première étape d'un programme de recherche en logistique des milieux extrêmes, cet ouvrage rend compte du colloque organisé par l'université Blaise Pascal et l'Université de Méditérannée. L'objectif consiste à engager un dialogue entre des experts-praticiens et des chercheurs autour du thème des expéditions polaires. Toutes ces réflexions enrichissent la démarche logistique. Celle-ci, en tant que discipline générale de conception d'une organisation, peut aussi s'appliquer en milieu extrême compris comme un milieu où l'autonomie, l'incertitude et le risque se mêlent. Des expéditeurs chevronnés (guides de haute-montagne, logisticiens polaires, formateurs, voyagistes confirmés, amateurs passionnés,) proposent des solutions pour concevoir une expédition polaire à ski en autonomie. Des chercheurs font état de leurs travaux sur l'évolution des milieux polaires, sur la culture inuit contemporaine, sur l'effet du transport de le neige par le vent, sur les problèmes d'hydratation et de nutrition, sur la gestion du stress, sur les intentions profondes des expéditeurs, sur le dialogue engagée par ces derniers avec la nature, sur les émotions en milieux extrême, sur la logistique de soutien. Le chapitre intitulé " Transport éolien de la neige en milieu polaire : camps itinérants et formation de congères " vise d'une part à présenter les processus physiques en jeu et d'autre part à rappeler quelques règles adaptées de l'ingénierie des bâtiments et destinées à limiter la formation d'accumulations de neige au sein de camps itinérants lors de tempêtes de neige.
