Abstract
Les répercussions des changements climatiques se feront sentir tant sur le plan environnemental que social. Bien que le Québec puisse compter sur la vitalité de ses mouvements communautaire et écologiste pour répondre à plusieurs de ces défis, un arrimage entre ces derniers est à faire pour répondre de la meilleure façon possible à la complexité de la crise climatique. Dans cet article, nous retraçons brièvement l’histoire de ces deux mouvements pour en présenter ensuite leurs formes contemporaines respectives : le développement des communautés et la transition socioécologique. Leur examen permet de mettre en lumière que ceux-ci ont en commun des acteurs, des idéaux et des moyens d’action. Ainsi, nous avançons que la transition socioécologique non seulement peut, mais devrait être soutenue, voire catalysée par le développement des communautés.
