Comment, à la fin du XX e siècle, le road movie de cavale réinvente-t-il le héros populaire états-unien à travers la figure du seuil? Qu’une fiction fasse du seuil une séparation, une ouverture ou un espace tiers, elle interroge ce genre filmique, la culture états-unienne et l’identité de ses personnages à l’aune du jugement des spectateurs. Cette étude vise à montrer comment les protagonistes, en affirmant des valeurs authentiques dans un monde dégradé, deviennent des héros par leur capacité de médiation.
