Objetivou-se com presente trabalho traçar o perfil das Cooperativas de catadores de materiais recicláveis (CCMR) de Jardim Gramacho visando identificar os fatores que limitam a autogestão e o crescimento dessas organizações no mercado de reciclagem. Foram entrevistados gestores de doze das dezessete cooperativas locais e realizada a análise de cluster. Verificou-se que as CCMR, de modo geral, têm localização privilegiada à logística de gestão de resíduos e oferta de mão-de-obra especializada, mas deficiência na infraestrutura básica e na formalização, com alta taxa de analfabetismo e dificuldades na destinação do rejeito. A análise de cluster permitiu a identificação de padrões nas cooperativas de Jardim Gramacho de acordo com o perfil, sob os aspectos culturais, político, econômico e ecológico, podendo ser utilizada como uma ferramenta auxiliar para políticas internas e públicas de auxílio ao desenvolvimento das cooperativas.
