Desafios da certificação orgânica para a agricultura familiar urbana: estudo de caso no estado do Rio de Janeiro

Abstract
Nesse trabalho foi avaliado o processo da certificação orgânica e apontadas possíveis alternativas para fortalecer a produção familiar urbana orgânica. Um questionário online foi aplicado a agricultores urbanos familiares do estado do Rio de Janeiro cadastrados no Cadastro Nacional de Produtores Orgânicos e outros agricultores para identificar as motivações e dificuldades da APU orgânica. Os dados foram analisados pautados nas etapas da certificação realizadas pela Associação de Agricultores Biológicos do Estado do Rio de Janeiro – ABIO, que detém a maioria dos registros ativos dos agricultores orgânicos do estado. Concluiu-se que a carência de assistência técnica, a falta de mão de obra e a dificuldade burocrática em obter a documentação legal são fatores limitantes. Assim, a atuação do poder público e iniciativas organizadas por instituições públicas e privadas, se mostram essenciais para fornecer condições e incentivo aos agricultores familiares urbanos no processo de certificação orgânica.
