Abstract
Cet article présente un rituel chamanique bouriate observé en juillet 2015 au nord-est de la Mongolie, au village de Bayan-Uul (région du Dornod). Lors de ce rituel appelé buyan, les participants « font des mérites » à l’intention de deux défunts afin que leurs âmes puissent se réincarner avec succès. Cet article propose une analyse du rituel centrée sur les interactions et la répartition des participants dans le temps et l’espace qui, ensemble, concourent à mettre en lumière les reconfigurations des relations entre les participants. Cette approche permet de montrer comment la chamane se positionne en tant que médiatrice au sein du rituel et parvient à établir une communication entre les vivants et les morts. Ce mode de médiation particulier avec l’invisible met en relief la nature intrinsèquement ambiguë des relations que les Mongols entretiennent avec les défunts.
