Abstract
Cet article explore les relations qu’entretiennent le Tableau de la géographie de la France de Paul Vidal de la Blache (1903) et le Dépaysement, voyages en France de Jean-Christophe Bailly (2011) autour de leur enquête sur l’identité française. Si le premier s’organise autour d’une logique de « tableau » à visée panoptique, le second explicitement arrimé au principe du voyage, n’en produit pas moins une pluralité de tableaux. En quête tous deux d’une certaine identité française, ils la (re) composent dans leurs relations aux lieux et leurs restitutions. Le statisme du « tableau » ne fait jamais l’économie du mouvement, tandis que le récit de voyages, dans ses étapes, ne fait jamais celle des arrêts sur images. Les tensions entre stabilité et circulation, entre cadrage et mise en mouvement, dessinent progressivement les caractéristiques de l’identité française pour chacun. L’analyse de leurs littérarités respectives et croisées, se concentre sur deux aspects : l’analyse des images et de registres métaphoriques d’une part, l’usage et la fonctionnalité littéraire des noms propres d’autre part. Ces manières d’écrire contribuent toutes deux à des géopoïétiques nationales.
