Abstract
This book is the result of research we conducted for more than fi fteen years.We received the support of many Inuit elders.Many of them have passed away now.We are grateful to them for sharing their recollections and knowledge with us.Ollie and Lizzie Itinnuaq, Peter Suvaksiuq, Josie Angutinngurniq, and Job and Eva Muqyunniq organized and hosted the elders workshops in Kangiq&iniq (2000 and 2002), Arviat (2003 and 2005
