Cet article étudie les logiques initiatiques, socioculturelles et interdiscursives du poème d’Andrée Chedid « La mort du pou », publié dans le recueil Fêtes et Lubies, en 1973, en faisant l’hypothèse que celui-ci s’approprie des motifs, techniques, rythmes traditionnels de la comptine et qu’il est en dialogue avec l’imaginaire social d’un « français national scolaire », pour reprendre l’expression de Renée Balibar. C’est à l’étude des continuums et des tensions entre les oralités enfantines et la raison scolaire qu’est consacrée cette lecture ethnocritique.
