Recent progress in metasurface research has enabled new classes of structured light and inspired new applications. We review ongoing efforts in these areas with focus on meta-optics that can remotely control the spin and orbital angular momentum of light in 3D. Devices of this kind may find use in optical trapping, micromanipulation and sensing. We also present new holographic technique - dubbed holographic light sheets - for generating 3D structured light for AR/VR and discuss new directions in creating time-varying optical vortices with dispersion-engineered metasurfaces.
