Permasalahan amblesan jalan kereta api di beberapa lokasi terjadi akibat perubahan kondisi lingkungan dan geometrik jalan rel. Minimnya kegiatan operasi dan perawatan menjadi salah satu penyebab terjadi penurunan kondisi badan jalan kereta api. Salah satu lokasi yang mengalami kejadian amblesan berada pada Km 112+000 sd Km 114+000 antara Cempaka - Ketapang lintas Tarahan – Tanjung Enim. Hasil tinjauan lokasi menujukkan telah terjadi perubahan profil badan jalan KA yaitu, badan jalan KA yang tergerus air hujan, bantalan rusak, saluran drainase yang kurang berfungsi, dan adanya genangan air di bawah ballast (mud pumping). Hasil kajian dan analisis data menunjukkan dibutuhkan kegiatan normalisasi badan jalan KA terutama pada daerah timbunan sesuai dengan kriteria dan standar yang berlaku. Selain itu, perbaikan radius lengkung di sepanjang jalur dengan melakukan pergeseran track diperoleh nilai geseran maksimum sebesar 7,033 m pada KM. 113+200. Perbaikan sistem drainase sepanjang 750 m dilakukan dengan mengganti bentuk dimensi saluran drainase eksisting menjadi drainase beton U ditch 30 cm dengan kapasitas debit 0,205 m3/dtk dan perbaikan kemiringan dasar saluran menjadi 0,03 diharapkan dapat menampung volume debit banjir kala ulang 5 tahun sebesar 0,112 m3/dtk. Perkuatan lereng badan jalan KA juga dikaji dengan pembuatan tembok penahan tanah merupakan beton mutu K 250. Tembok penahan tanah ini dibagi menjadi 2 (dua) bagian utama, yaitu bagian kaki tembok dan dan dinding yang disatukan secara monolit. Hasil perhitungan menunjukkan angka keamanan struktur yaitu sebesar 1,363. Nilai tersebut lebih besar dari nilai keamanan yang disyaratkan yaitu sebesar 1,5 sehingga dapat disimpulkan struktur aman terhadap bahaya guling.
