Abstract

Objetivo: Avaliar o impacto do Programa de Automonitoramento da Glicemia Capilar (PAMGC) no controle da Diabetes Mellitus, no município de Vitória da Conquista, Bahia. Métodos: Estudo piloto, quase-experimental, do tipo antes e depois, envolvendo pacientes diabéticos, em insulinoterapia, cadastrados no PAMGC no ano de 2019. Foram coletados dados sociodemográficos, condição clínica dos indivíduos e parâmetros fisiológicos e bioquímicos. O Termo de Consentimento Livre e Esclarecido foi previamente assinado pelos participantes. As variáveis de interesse foram índice de massa corporal (IMC), pressão arterial, glicemia de momento e HbA1c, sendo comparadas no momento do cadastro e 12 meses após a inclusão no programa. Resultados: Foram incluídos no estudo 40 pacientes, sendo a maioria do sexo feminino (62,50%), a faixa etária predominante foi acima de 60 anos, perfazendo 42,50%. A maior parte era portador de diabetes tipo II, representando 82,50%, com mais de 5 anos de diagnóstico (57,50% e 62,50%) possuíam Hipertensão Arterial Sistêmica. A média de HbA1c caiu de 10,84 para 9,11 (p<0,05), enquanto que o IMC aumentou 1,23 na média (p<0,05). Conclusão: Os dados apontam que o automonitoramento da glicemia capilar foi capaz de promover redução nos valores de HbA1c, demonstrando que essa tecnologia contribui para o controle da doença.
