Abstract
Angeline, dernière nouvelle d’Émile Zola, a été composée pendant les mois d’exil de l’écrivain, à la suite de son engagement dans l’Affaire Dreyfus. Dans cet article, nous démontrerons le rôle que ce récit a joué dans l’engagement zolien et dans l’évolution du statut auctorial du chef de file du naturalisme à un moment si sensible de sa carrière et de son existence et comment dans cette nouvelle, qui constitue le tout premier effort de fictionnalisation du drame de l’Affaire, l’engagement intellectuel zolien est pour la première fois intégré à la création littéraire.
