Abstract
Il s’agit de montrer comment le personnage semi-fictif de l’oncle Charles exprime différents âges de la vie, à la fois de sa propre vie, entre sa jeunesse dans le milieu artistique parisien et son retrait dans le domaine viticole du Midi, et de la vie de son neveu, qu’il accompagne comme une figure à la fois tutélaire et ironique, de l’enfance à l’âge d’homme. Plus qu’un personnage réaliste, il apparaît ainsi comme une figure du Temps et un double de l’auteur.
