Abstract
Tanulmányunkban az Európai Unióhoz régebben és 2004 után csatlakozó tagországok demográfiai folyamatait vetettük egybe a teljes termékenységi arányszám, a várható élettartam, a nettó migráció, illetve az időskori függőségi ráta változókkal. Az újonnan csatlakozó tagországok demográfiai kilátásai borúsak, a nagymértékű kivándorlás és az alacsony teljes termékenységi arányszám miatt az elöregedési problémák összességében fokozottabban érvényesülhetnek a 2004 után csatlakozó tagállamok körében, mint a korábban csatlakozók esetében. Klaszterelemzésünk kimutatta, hogy az újonnan csatlakozó tagországok mind 2004-ben, mind napjainkban a vizsgált demográfiai változók tekintetében bizonyos mértékben elkülönülnek a centrumországok értékeitől, azonban a klaszterek stabilitása az alkalmazott metódusok függvényében viszonylag alacsony.
