Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Davis Cup, day 4: Croatia slight favorite to reach the final\nCroatia send Spain crashing out of Davis Cup to set up Australia semi-final\n\n\n►🌍📺📱🎾Australia vs Croatia - Semi Final\n\n►🌍📺📱🎾Australia vs Croatia - Semi Final\n\n\n\nCroatia are through to the Davis Cup semi-finals against Australia after beating hosts Spain 2-0 in front of a raucous home crowd in Malaga.\n\nCroatia and Australia meet today in Málaga in the first semi-final of the Davis Cup 2022 (live from 4 p.m. on ServusTV On). The Croatians bring the better individual players with them.\n\nA short flashback back to July 2022: Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic met Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell on Church Road in London to decide the Wimbledon title among themselves. The special thing about this match: Pavic fractured his right arm in a fall in the semifinals against Cabal/Farah and was only able to play with one hand in the final. It is all the more remarkable that the two Croatians could still get a taste of victory, only losing in the tie-break of the fifth set.\n\nToday in Malaga there could be a revenge in the first semi-final of the Davis Cup 2022. Namely, when it is 1-1 after the individual between Croatia and Australia. That was not the case in the two quarter-finals: Lleyton Hewitt's team led 2-0 against the Netherlands, as did the Croatians against hosts Spain.\n\nCilic in the lead against de Minaur\nOverall, however, the Europeans will be the slight favorites. Because Borna Coric can always be seen in the first individual, whether it's against Jordan Thompson or Thanasi Kokkinakis. In any case, the task for Marin Cilic will be tougher: although the 34-year-old veteran is leading 2-1 against de Minaur, all previous matches have gone the full distance. Just like a year ago in the Davis Cup in Madrid, where Cilic asserted himself in three sets.\n\nThe prospects that the Croatian ensemble will reach the final in the Davis Cup, as in 2021, are not bad. And whoever should be waiting in Málaga on Sunday: Neither the Italians nor the Germans will be as powerful as the Russians last year.\n\nMarin Cilic produced a thrilling fightback in the second rubber against home favourite Pablo Carreno Busta to win 5-7 6-3 7-6 (5) and silence a partisan crowd.\n\nAfter Borna Coric had beaten Roberto Bautista Agut 6-4 7-6 (4) in the opening rubber to edge Croatia 1-0 in front, Cilic hit back from 4-1 down in the deciding tie-break to triumph in three hours and 13 minutes.\n\nThe 34-year-old world number 17 had also been two points from defeat at 5-6 down in the third set before staging his comeback.\n\n"It was an incredible battle," said Cilic.\n\nAustralia booked their place in the last four on Tuesday when they won 2-0 against the Netherlands.\n\nBoth Jordan Thompson and Alex de Minaur recovered from a set down in their singles matches to beat Tallon Griekspoor 4-6 7-5 6-3 and Botic van de Zandschulp 5-7 6-3 6-4 respectively.\n\n"We've got a great team, a lot of belief and a lot of passion," De Minaur said after his victory.\n\n"I'm very happy to win today. Every single one of these players on our team is going to play their heart out. We'll do everything we can for our country."\n\nIn the other quarter-final matches, Italy take on the USA and Germany face Canada on Thursday.\n\nAustralia - 28-time champions in the Davis Cup - had progressed into the semi-finals with a 2-0 victory over Netherlands on Tuesday as both Jordan Thompson and Alex de Minaur recovered from a set down to win their singles matches in three.\n\nThompson beat Tallon Griekspoor 4-6 7-5 6-3, while De Minaur overcame Botic van de Zandschulp 5-7 6-3 6-4.\n\nThe final two quarter-finals take place on Thursday with Germany up against Canada and Italy taking on 32-time champions USA, with the winners to contest the second semi-final on Saturday.\n\nΤhe CORD-19 dataset released by the team of Semantic Scholar1 and\nΤhe curated data provided by the LitCovid hub2.\nThese data have been cleaned and integrated with data from COVID-19-TweetIDs and from other sources (e.g., PMC). The result was dataset of 500,430 unique articles along with relevant metadata (e.g., the underlying citation network). We utilized this dataset to produce, for each article, the values of the following impact measures:

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
