Sonoporation Stimulates Short-term Potentiation of Membrane Resealing in Neighboring Cells

Abstract
Sonoporated is known to facilitate the macromolecules delivery. Recent studies determined that various sonoporation-associated molecular responses, such as intracellular calcium fluctuations and membrane potential depolarization, can spatially spread from the sonoporated host cells (SHCs) into the neighboring cells. However, it is still unknown that how the sonoporated host cells affect the resealing time of the sonoporated neighboring cells (SNCs). Controlled sonoporation was performed to achieve single-site membrane perforation of the neighboring cells. The results showed that shorter resealing time was expended in SNCs than in SHCs, suggesting that short-term potentiation of membrane resealing in the neighboring cells. These findings provide new insights into the bioeffects induced by sonoporation.
