Measurements of integrated and differential cross sections for isolated photon pair production in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV with the ATLAS detector
Bibliographic record
Abstract
CERN-LHC. A measurement of the production cross section for two isolated photons in proton--proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=8$~TeV is presented. The results are based on an integrated luminosity of 20.2~fb$^{-1}$ recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The measurement considers photons with pseudorapidities satisfying $|\eta^{\gamma}|<1.37$ or ${1.56<|\eta^{\gamma}|<2.37}$ and transverse energies of respectively $E_{\mathrm{T,1}}^{\gamma}>$ 40~GeV and $E_{\mathrm{T,2}}^{\gamma}>$ 30~GeV for the two leading photons ordered in transverse energy produced in the interaction. The background due to hadronic jets and electrons is subtracted using data-driven techniques. The fiducial cross sections are corrected for detector effects and measured differentially as a function of six kinematic observables. Fiducial volume definition: - At least two 2 photons not coming from hadron or $\tau$ decays - pT(photon_1) > 40 GeV, pT(photon_2) > 30 GeV - |eta(photons)| < 2.37 and not within 1.37 < |eta(photons)| < 1.56 - ETiso(photons) < 11 GeV - deltaR(photon_1,photon_2) > 0.4

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one teacher head, not a consensus.
