Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Hypoxic-Ischemic encephalopathy, the clinical condition that most impact human neonates, which can cause persistent sensori-motor, and cognitive deficits when it does not lead to death.Several morphofunctional damages are found in subjects that have endured neonatal hypoxia/anoxia.The survival of the offspring depends on the maternal behavior for care and feeding, mediated by genetic and environmental factors, related to the medial preoptic area (MPA)-a key region for the expression of maternal behaviors.Mother-pups feed-back, such as sensory stimuli elicited by the offspring, works as a reinforcement mechanism for the maternal behavior. In rats, the vocalization of newborns, around 40 kHz, corresponds to separation calls that encourages the mother to retrieve the neonate.Changes in behaviors addressed to the offspring make up an aggravating factor in their development.Studies using animal models of neonatal anoxia showed long-term deficits related to a reduction in the maintenance of attention. The aim of this study was to quantify, during the lactation period (P2-P21, postpartum days), the maternal behavior of primiparous rats whose offspring were exposed to Neonatal Anoxia in P2; to evaluate the mother-pup interaction by means of the pups vocalization (40 kHz, separation calls) from P3 to P18; quantify the expression of Fos protein in the MPA of the mothers shortly after the last weaning (P21); and to assess long-term cognitive damages in the attention of adult offspring (P70) using the Covert Attention Task.It was possible to observe a reduction in behaviors directed to the anoxia offspring compared to the control group, and an increase in the separation call of the male anoxia group and a reduction in the female anoxia group when compared to their respective controls.Primiparous of the anoxia offspring showed an increase in self-grooming.It was possible to observe a reduction in the body weight gain of the individuals in the Anoxia group. These results show the correlation of deleterious effects of neonatal anoxia on weight gain with reduction in maternal behavior. Therefore those impacts are relevant to evaluate, the outcomes of both negative influence on the neonate and can guide to procedures to mitigate them, as well as to assess the possible deleterious effects of maternal negligence added to the negative effects of anoxia, which may intensify the damage induced by the neonatal injury.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
