Abstract
Suite à la désindustrialisation, l'Italie a également été touchée par d'importants phénomènes de démantèlement d'usines et d'installations industrielles qui ont en quelque sorte marqué la fin d'une époque. Les témoignages physiques de l'activité industrielle passée ont d'abord été considérés comme des freins à la valorisation des territoires, et donc comme des obstacles à lever. Ce n'est qu'à la fin des années 80 du siècle dernier qu'un intérêt plus répandu pour la protection des anciennes usines a vu le jour et que des nouvelles expériences de récupération et de conversion d'anciens espaces de travail en espaces pour des nouvelles activités ont débuté. Les caractéristiques du patrimoine industriel nécessitent, pour sa réaffectation, des modes d'intervention différenciés, parmi lesquels celui de la restauration exemplaire n'est qu'une des solutions possibles. Le plus souvent, c'est la tâche du projet de trouver le juste équilibre entre conservation et transformation dans la récupération des bâtiments industriels. Cet article propose une comparaison des différentes stratégies d'intervention qui ont été pratiquées en Italie pendant les dernières trente années.
