Abstract
Idiopathic localized involutional lipoatrophy (LIL) is characterized by spontaneous loss of subcutaneous adipose tissue without preceding inflammation, trauma, or injections. Clinically, LIL presents with asymptomatic, non-inflamed, localized, circumscribed atrophic depressions that are solitary, with the most common sites being the proximal extremities and the buttocks.1,2 Characteristic histopathologic features include diminutive fat lobules that resemble fetal adipose tissue and absence of dermal or subcutaneous inflammation.
