MexicoComité Mexicano para el Tamiz Neonatal Cardiaco RESUMEN El tamiz neonatal cardiaco es una prueba sencilla, no invasiva, indolora y costo-efectiva, con el cual se pueden detectar oportunamente las cardiopatías congénitas críticas, enfermedades que pueden ocasionar secuelas graves o la muerte de los recién nacidos, de no ser diagnosticadas a tiempo.Estas malformaciones requieren algún tipo de procedimiento invasivo durante el primer mes de vida.De acuerdo con los algoritmos publicados a partir del año 2011, se realiza mediante el registro de la oximetría de pulso en la mano derecha y cualquiera de los dos pies de los neonatos, con mediciones secuenciales y puntos de corte establecidos.En México, en apego a la normativa nacional e internacional, el tamiz se ha implementado en algunos estados de la república, con su adición como prueba de cribado en la Ley General de Salud en el año 2021, lo que la hace un estudio obligatorio en el territorio mexicano.En este documento se exponen antecedentes globales, aspectos científicos, técnicos, operativos, normativos y económicos para la realización apropiada del tamizaje, proponiendo además modificaciones al algoritmo y dando a conocer los análisis realizados sobre los costos y beneficios del tamiz neonatal cardiaco.El objetivo de realizar ajustes en el algoritmo es adaptarlo a las condiciones demográficas de la población mexicana, de tal forma que se pueda reducir el número de falsos positivos y falsos negativos relacionados con la altitud geográfica y con la medición del índice de perfusión.
