Abstract
L’objectif de cet article est de décrire d’abord, comment les commerçants locaux et autres acteurs de ce secteur au Sénégal perçoivent la présence des commerçants chinois dans l’espace commercial sénégalais et ensuite de mettre en évidence l’impact socio-économique de l’activité commerciale des chinois sur l’économie sénégalaise. Nos résultats obtenus à l’aide d’une méthodologie qualitative, permettent de dire que les relations entre les commerçants locaux et leurs homologues chinois peuvent être caractérisées comme complémentaires, collaboratrices et compétitives. Pour certains acteurs du commerce, la présence chinoise au Sénégal permet de créer des emplois, mais aussi d’avoir des produits bon marché. Pour les autres, elle a accentué la concurrence et favorisé le développement d’une véritable économie informelle.
