SEXUAL DIFFICULTIES IN PSYCHOTHERAPEUTIC CONTEXT: A QUALITATIVE STUDY WITH OLDER ADULTS

Abstract
Resumo: O bem-estar sexual (BES) da população idosa pode ser significativamente influenciado pela idade e pelas dificuldades sexuais.Este estudo tem como objetivo explorar as dificuldades sexuais que afetam o BES, abordadas por idosos em contexto de terapia centrada na pessoa.Cinquenta e sete idosos, com idade compreendida entre os 65 e os 82 anos e residentes na comunidade participaram neste estudo qualitativo.Foram realizadas entrevistas semi-estruturadas e as narrativas dos participantes foram submetidas a uma análise de conteúdos.Os resultados revelaram quatro temas principais para estes participantes: (1) Ausência do companheiro; (2) interferência da família, (3) insatisfação com o corpo, (4) e doenças sexualmente transmissíveis.O SWB é maioritariamente desafiado pela ausência do companheiro e pela interferência da família.Este estudo sublinha a importância da exploração das dificuldades sexuais que a população idosa sente em relação ao seu SWB para a eficácia de intervenções clínicas e de saúde futuras com idosos.
