Les proches aidantes francophones du Nouveau-Brunswick : une étude compréhensive sur la trajectoire d’accompagnement d’un parent aîné

Abstract
Cette étude s’inscrit dans le cadre d’un mémoire de maîtrise ayant pour but de comprendre l’expérience d’accompagnement auprès d’un parent aîné de la perspective des proches aidantes francophones du Nouveau-Brunswick (N.-B). Notre étude s’appuie sur trois perspectives théoriques soit 1) la reconnaissance sociale (Honneth, 2000), 2) l’éthique du care (Tronto, 2008) et 3) la trajectoire d’accompagnement (Corbin, 1992). Des entretiens individuels ont été réalisés avec six proches aidantes dans trois comtés du N.-B. L’analyse des résultats démontre que la relation entre la proche aidante et le parent aîné est centrale à la trajectoire d’accompagnement. De plus, les résultats permettent de saisir la complexité du phénomène d’accompagnement, notamment en ce qui concerne les difficultés rencontrées. Ce constat a permis de développer deux types de trajectoires d’accompagnement : 1) complète : tous les éléments essentiels au maintien d’une relation positive entre la proche aidante et le parent aîné sont présents et 2) fragmentée : certains éléments au maintien d’une relation positive entre la proche aidante et le parent aîné sont absents.
