Abstract
L’ escalade est un sport qui gagne en popularité depuis quelques décennies en Occident. Sa pratique à l’extérieur perturbe la biodiversité associée aux parois rocheuses et aux autres habitats à proximité. Ces habitats hébergent des assemblages d’espèces uniques, mais méconnus en raison de leur accès souvent difficile. Ainsi, la pratique de l’escalade pourrait menacer des populations d’espèces d’intérêt pour la conservation. Cette revue de littérature a pour objectif : 1) de brosser un portrait de la biodiversité associée aux parois, aux talus d’éboulis et aux blocs, en prenant l’Amérique du Nord comme étude de cas ; 2) de synthétiser les connaissances sur les conséquences écologiques de l’escalade ; 3) de documenter les mesures d’atténuation actuelles ; 4) d’identifier les lacunes dans les connaissances actuelles ; 5) de proposer des pistes pour les recherches et les efforts de conservation futurs.
