Abstract

Objectif L’objectif du présent article est de fournir un survol de l’organisation des services de santé mentale forensique dans le monde. En particulier, nous avons tenté de répondre à la question suivante : « Quelles caractéristiques systémiques doivent être considérées dans la structure et l’organisation des services de santé mentale forensique ? »Méthodes Pour ce faire, nous avons synthétisé l’information publiquement accessible qui décrit l’organisation des systèmes de psychiatrie légale dans le monde, identifiée à travers Academic Search Complete (EBSCO), ProQuest Central, Scopus, PsycInfo, Google Scholar et Google. Nous identifions les principes directeurs de l’organisation des services de psychiatrie légale et les indices potentiel de mesure de qualité des services.Résultats Cette recension sert de tremplin à l’élaboration de meilleures pratiques d’organisation des services de psychiatrie légale. Selon ces lignes directrices, un système de santé mentale forensique efficace inclurait les éléments suivants : un continuum complet de services hiérarchisés, l’intégration de services dans le système, l’adéquation des services aux besoins des personnes, l’adhésion aux principes de droits de la personne, la réponse à la diversité de la population et l’utilisation des meilleures données disponibles pour effectuer des changements systémiques.Conclusion Bien que tous ces principes soient importants, nous détaillons comment les trois premiers (continuum, intégration et adéquation des services) peuvent s’appliquer à l’organisation des services de santé mentale forensique et proposons un continuum de services de santé mentale forensique hiérarchisés et intégrés.
