El autor propone un análisis de Gen 2, 4b-3, 24 destinado a manifestar la función narrativa desempeñada por el episodio de la expulsión del paraíso. A juicio del autor, este episodio constituye uno de los nervios que vertebra la historia y explica la presencia en el relato del motivo del jardín de Edén y las peculiares características que reviste: la duplicidad de árboles prodigiosos, la pormenorizada descripción cartográfica, etc.
