Abstract
Depuis 2012 sont apparues, avec beaucoup de visibilité, sur la scène de la société civile chinoise des jeunes filles se proclamant avec force lesbiennes. Ce phénomène nouveau est décrypté dans une perspective anthropologique sous ses versants externes et objectifs et dans ses dimensions internes, collectives et subjectives. Les investigations ont été menées à Canton, la capitale de la province du sud la plus développée et la plus ouverte aux messages globalisés de par sa proximité avec Hong Kong. Sur le chemin de leur émancipation, les jeunes lesbiennes – rencontrées en face à face – se sont vu proposer une aide pléthorique d’organisations étrangères, ONG et fondations surtout américaines, les enjoignant à constituer des groupes de pression et de témoignage et à organiser des manifestations de rue. Cette aide multiforme et aussi financière est d’autant plus valorisée par les actrices qu’elle s’inscrit dans un contexte de forte domination masculine à laquelle les jeunes filles cherchent à échapper, trouvant dans le féminisme une légitimation puissante à leur révolte. La répression politique qui s’abat sur la Chine depuis le gouvernement de Xi Jingping les a gravement mises en danger, sans pour autant entamer leur détermination.
