Abstract
Resumo: Apesar da educação pública de qualidade ser um direito garantido pela Constituição Federal, nem sempre o acesso a esse serviço se dá de maneira equânime.Nesse sentido, promover ações que visem melhorar a qualidade da educação, bem como discutir problemas relacionados a acessibilidade às escolas torna-se ponto chave na discussão sobre a redução das desigualdades socioeconômicas, sobretudo no contexto urbano.Com isso, o presente trabalho tem por objetivo investigar, utilizando ferramentas da estatística espacial e do geoprocessamento, as relações entre a qualidade das escolas públicas das redes municipais e estaduais de Belo Horizonte, os padrões socioespaciais da população e a acessibilidade à estas escolas por transporte público, indagando se a distribuição espacial das escolas promove igualdade de acesso a um sistema educacional de qualidade.
