Abstract
Les problématiques liées au handicap constituent l’un des plus importants défis des sociétés occidentales. Il y est désormais admis que le handicap ne se situe plus à l’échelle individuelle, mais concerne l’ensemble de la société ainsi que son environnement. Contrairement aux pays riches, dans certains pays en voie de développement, tels que la République de Guinée, la majorité des personnes en situation de handicap est démunie et délaissée. Dans ce contexte, elles adoptent diverses stratégies afin de subvenir à leurs besoins. Dans l’étude, menée à Conakry au cours de l’année 2008, nous nous sommes intéressés aux personnes ayant une déficience motrice des membres inférieurs et nous avons établi trois profils de personnes, correspondant chacun à une stratégie de subsistance spécifique. Nous avons analysé les facteurs qui orientent ces personnes à choisir l’une d’entre elles plutôt qu’une autre, de même que les conséquences de ce choix sur leur participation et leur intégration sociales.
