Abstract
Cet article porte sur une forme de témoignage caractéristique des Églises néo-pentecôtistes en République Démocratique du Congo : le litatoli. Témoignage public, lieu d’activation de l’émotion, le litatoli est une mise en scène de soi aux allures d’une autobiographie édifiante qui accorde une large place à la spectacularisation. À partir d’un corpus de 13 témoignages du pasteur Jonas publiés sur les réseaux sociaux entre juillet et août 2020, l’article analyse les mécanismes et les stratégies testimoniales qui inscrivent ou exorcisent la peur dans les mots et les symboles de la narration. A partir de la performance discursive du pasteur, il dégage l’image de soi que celui-ci construit et la part occupée par la peur dans l’ethos affiché.
