Abstract
Dans un contexte africain où les banques ont une responsabilité environnementale et un contrôle des investisseurs consacrés, cette recherche analyse l’influence des actionnaires sur la responsabilité environnementale de 42 banques multinationales entre 2005 et 2014. Des données issues des rapports annuels et traitées par la méthode de White, l’on conclut globalement que les actionnaires sont écologiquement responsables. Suivant leur nature, les investisseurs étrangers et étatiques influencent négativement la responsabilité environnementale tandis que l’actionnariat institutionnel, familial et managérial l’influence positivement. Enfin, les dirigeantes modèrent le comportement des actionnaires écologiquement responsables, alors que la culture managériale occidentale joue un rôle médiateur.
