Abstract
La crise sanitaire actuelle interroge la capacité des systèmes de production, notamment agricoles et industriels, à faire face à des catastrophes. Les mesures de protection mises en place à l’échelon étatique incitent à un retour au local. Traditionnellement, depuis plusieurs générations, les Polynésiens cultivent un jardin familial, nommé fa’a’apu. Ce jardin leur permet de se nourrir, par les fruits et légumes cultivés, mais aussi de se soigner à l’aide de plantes médicinales. Dans une perspective résiliente, nous développerons l’exemple d’un jardin collectif, à l’initiative d’étudiants résidant à la cité universitaire. Ce jardin apparaît comme une réponse à l’augmentation des prix constatée depuis le début de la crise sanitaire. En outre, les étudiants, isolés et éloignés de leurs familles, constatent que le travail de la terre crée du lien social dans la résidence. De plus, ce jardin améliore leur cadre de vie et leur offre une occupation vécue comme apaisante, que certains relient à leur identité polynésienne, en invoquant la pratique du fa’a’apu.
