Survolant les principes et objectifs ayant orienté les diverses traductions et adaptations des oeuvres de l’écrivaine canadienne Lucy Maud Montgomery, et plus particulièrement la version canadienne-française des romans de la populaire série Anne, cet article s’interroge sur la posture à adopter dans le cadre d’une éventuelle traduction française de l’ultime ouvrage atypique de l’auteure, The Blythes Are Quoted. L’accent est mis sur des manières de rendre des passages traitant de pratiques et d’attitudes devenues taboues de nos jours ou comportant des erreurs ou des particularités susceptibles de décontenancer ou de rebuter le lectorat francophone contemporain peu au fait des circonstances de création du recueil original.
