Abstract
Pastoral concern for young people is an essential part of the Church's vocation and mission throughout its history. A special manifestation of this is the convocation of Pope Francis XV ORDINARY GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE SYNOD OF BISHOPS (From 3th to 28 October 2018), under the slogan “Young People, the Faith and Vocational Discernment”. The fruit of both pre-Synodal and Synodal reflection is the post-synod apostolic exhortation Christus vivit, proclaimed by Francis on March 25, 2019. The Pope presents in it the image of contemporary youth in the light of reflection flowing from faith as well as based on contemporary human experience, especially young people. It presents the relationship of young people to faith in God and their attitude towards the Church, taking into account their expectations in this regard. It also proposes a youth pastoral program adequate for today, which should be vocational in its nature, characterized by synodality and not limited to elite groups, but to be a youth pastoral work for the people. He also points to a number of specific proposals for the renewal of youth ministry and makes critical comments on some of its forms.Reflection on the papal vision of youth ministry, included in the Christus vivis adhortation for its reception and implementation and adaptation to the local conditions of ecclesial communities seems to be not only important and useful, but also particularly urgent in the face of the challenges that pastoral work in the modern Church, also in Poland.
