Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

The article examines the study of a previously unknown example of Vologda literature Tale of Tsar Ivan Vasilievich. The Tale came down to us as a part of chronicle-chronographic compilation of the last quarter of the 17th century, created on the basis of the Moscow list of the 2nd Edition of Russian Chronograph with the continuation. In 1716 the text of the Tale became the basis of Ivan Slobodsky’s Chronicle articles about the stay of tsar Ivan IV in Vologda during the oprichnina. The author is inclined to connect the appearance of the Tale with the activity of the Vologda Archbishop Gavriil Kichigin. The article argues in favor of the non-Vologodsky origin of compiler of the literary monument — he most likely was a visiting Moscow scribe. The Appendix publishes the text of the Vologda’s Tale and the fragment of the Patriarchal Chronicle of the 1680s, placed in the manuscript after the text of the Russian Chronograph.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
